ALA President from 2013-2014

  • While serving as President of ALA Dr. Stripling started the initiative known as Libraries Save Lives which supports the concept of libraries constantly changing in order to best support their community's needs.
Aside from being president of ALA, Dr. Stripling has also served asPresident of the American Association of School Librarians, and is the current President of the New York Library Association.

"The Libraries Change Lives initiative will be framed around three areas of transformative practice that enable community members to change their lives: literacy, community engagement, and innovation"

Awards and Recognition

  • The President's Award of Arkansas Library Association in 2014
  • Distinguished Service Award from New York School Library Association in 2012.
  • Dr. Stripling recently received the Joseph W. Lippincott Award at the ALA Annual Conference in June of this year.
