WHAT IS DOWN SYNDROME

  • Down syndrome is a chromosomal disorder
  • It is caused by an error in cell division.
  • The error is the offspring of two parents is born with and extra 21st chromosome.

  • We receive 23 from our mother
  • We receive 23 from out father
  • People with Down syndrome are born with 47 chromosomes

GENDER

  • Down syndrome affect males more then females
  • No one really knows why it affects males more
  • About 106 to 125 boys for every 100 girls.
