Is the world really doomed? in These three writings, Brave New World, Doomed, and something the whole world should see it shows the environmental and political reasons our world could be doomed.

In the book doomed Pandora's father tried to show the world and the government what they were doing to our environment but he was denied the opportunity and his work was created into a video game instead. Pandora's father decided to to matters into his own hands and release a worm into the game he created and force people to see the problems in his world. If the government would have taken the time in the first place to evaluate what he had to say the world wouldn't be in danger in two ways.

Doomed?

  • shows how far our world has come in harming our environment
  • This is confronting the world with what is happening in it.
The author of this artical was researching the North Pacific Gyre and was looking for a way to show just how bad it had become. The nickname of that area is called the great garbage patch and is the size of Queensland, Australia. The is approximately, one million tons of plastic in that body of water. The way the author found to show the world was through the birds that live in the area.

"Your father is a very bad man and I don't want you to have anything to do with him...i tell myself not to do it as all of my mothers warnings coalesce in my head at once. But it doesn't matter -its too late my name isn't Pandora for nothing." (page 6-7)
"Today it's better known as the great garbage patch and area the size of Queensland Australia where there is approximately one million tonnes of plastic spread thought the ocean."
"But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger , I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin."

The first quote is my favorite because it shows how the author incorporated Greek mythology into her story, it also foreshadows the how throughout the rest of the book she continues to use it. This is my favorite quote because it shows how bad the environment has really gotten just in that one statement.
