Domestic violence may occur when one partner feels the need to control and dominate the other
The abuser may feel the need for control because of
extreme jealousy or low self-esteem
Some times abusers learn violent habits from their family, community, and culture
Alcohol and other chemical substances may contribute to violent behavior. A drunk or high person will be less likely to control his or her anger
Children who witness this violence may learn to believe that violence is a sufficient way to handle problems
The victim can have emotional problems.
The abuser can go to jail.
Families are broken apart.
Best solution:
Jail time!!!!!!!!

- Abuser can get help while in jail
- Separation for the abuser
- Cannot contact victim
STEPS
- Call the police.
- Report the crime.
- Set a court date.
- Proven guilty or innocent
- Sent to jail if proven guilty.
COUNTERARGUMENT
- They might be proven innocent.
- False accusations.
