Main facts

  • Dolphins are part of a whale family including orcas and pilot whales
  • They are found all over the world
  • They are mostly found in shallow oceans
  • Dolphins are carnivors
  • They mostly eat fish and squid
  • Their main color is grey but they have dark grey on their backs

It is hard to estimate how many dolphins there are because there are so many

There are many different spieces

Range

  • Most Dolphins live in shallow waters
  • Mostly in tropical oceans
  • 5 species live in the worlds oceans

Dolphins are known for their happy and playful behaviors

They are a favorite wildlife wacher

A lot of species like to leap out of the water and follow ships

They use echolocation to locate prey

Dolphins swim in large groups

Dolphins usually hunt together

Baby dolphins are called calfs

usually twin dolphins are rare

Dolphin Babies

  • Right as soon as the baby is born the mother must rush the baby to the surface for it to take its first breath
  • The calf will stay with the mother until 3 to 8 years old

Dolphins are usually found in salt water but they can live in fresh water

Only some species live in fresh water

Dolphins are usually found in shallow waters

Dolphins live to be 40 to 50 years old

Dolphin training involves passion

You also need a strong bond between the dolphin and you

You can create a strong bond by playing with and feeding the dolphin

Dolphins are very smart mammals.
