QUESTIONS WE HAVE ABOUT THIS TOPIC....

  • Since 7/10 of Japanese residents are against dolphin slaughter, why do they do it?
  • Does Japan have to have this ritual?
  • What does the ritual specialize?
  • By now don't dolphins now leave the coast of Japan?

FACTS ABOUT DOLPHIN SLAUGHTER

  • At least 100 bottle nose dolphins die per year.
  • Meat from one dolphin equals $50,000 yen.
  • To attract and capture the dolphins, they bang metal poles to harm their senses.
  • Each year 600 dolphins are caught and a few are released.
  • If a dolphin was capture, but escaped or was released, it could be caught the very next year.

G.R.A.P.E.S.

  • Religion-because it's a ritual
  • Achievements-because each year they catch more dolphins, even though it's sad.
  • Economy-the more dolphin they catch and kill, the more money they have.

The dolphin slaughter ritual happens in the cove of Taiji, Japan. It is a extremely small place, but even though it is small, they make room for their awful slaughtering ritual.

Dolphin slaughter has a huge impact on the world because dolphins are so helpful to the human beings. The help scientists discover helpful things in life so we can do better. Plus, they also keep the fish population down. When the fish population gets to high, the ocean can be easily polluted with all the fish. There is not enough fisherman to catch all the fish. Dolphins are also so joyful, and killing them is senseless and so cruel.

People can help not add to dolphin slaughtering by not supporting places like Sea World. By going to sea world, you support dolphin capture/slaughter because once the dolphins are captured in Japan, the "prettiest" dolphins are shipped of to Sea World. They are forced to leave behind their family, home, and life. They practically in their life. At Sea World, they just sit in a tank and preform. That is no life I want. How are dolphins any different?

THE CONNECTIONS...

  • Japan does this because some use meat for meals.
  • They cook dolphin meat into seasoned rice, for dinner.
  • Dolphin slaughter gives them yen even though they are being cruel.
  • Some need the yen because their child is very ill and needs care.
  • Lastly, Japan does this, claiming it's a ritual. The whole thing is senseless.

To help with your understanding one dolphin slaughter, you should know that it happens threw the whole month of September. Starting on the first, the fisherman capture. Then near the eighth, the youngest and prettiest dolphins shipped of Sea World. After that, I think you can picture what happens with the rest. If you can't, they slaughter them, taking their fat, meat, and only a few survivors live by escaping!

To conclude, dolphin slaughter is an awful thing that should never be promoted. The world deserves to know the truth about Sea World, Japan, and that awful ritual that happens in September.
