Early Life

Dr. Seuss was named Theodor Geisel. His family was from Germany. He was born in March 2,1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He had an older sister named Mannie. When he was young he liked to draw. His first job was drawing cartoons for an advertising company.

Life as a Child

At dinner Ted 's family gathered around a
huge oak table. Often they talked about the animals in the zoo. Ted's father worked at the zoo as the superintendent. Ted helped at the zoo too. At night his mother read to him.

Adults Major Accomplishments

Children's books were boring. Dr. Seuss wrote stories with easy words that kids could read. His books were colorful. He won the a prize for authors and an Academy Award for cartoons. He also wrote 44 children's books.

He is smart because he writes books for kids and he also does all the pictures.

He is hardworking because he made the first book Cat in the Hat. He would work all day and night if he needed to.

He is ambitious because he wrote books from when he was 22 years old and continued for many, many years.
