PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Disco was a musical and dance style that came to prominence in the mid-1970s. It was a mainstream, chart-topping style that inspired high fashion. This unique style came to define a decade. Wrap dresses in fun bright colors, with plunging necklines were all the rage. Hot pants, leotards and midriff tops, bell bottom pants and platform shoes were all popular styles.

This chart-topping musical style influenced high fashion, creating a unique style that came to define a decade. Halston was inspired by the street wear of the disco and he created high fashion disco-appropriate ensembles. This black lurex knit gown and matching sweater by Halston is the perfect example of high fashion inspired by street style.

Style icons like Bianca Jagger, Liza Minnelli, and Diana Ross were regulars who were photographed at the club wearing clothing from Halston. In Reem Acra's SS 2014 collection the disco influence is seen in the wrap style dress with the plunging neckline and the hair and make-up would fit in perfectly at Studio 54.

These dance worthy clothes from Reem Acra are reminiscent of the glamorous days of disco. This bias cut liquid lamé dress is inspired by the night club life. This collection looks like it is ready to get on the dance floor.
