PRESENTATION OUTLINE

NUCLEAR ENERGY

DISADVANTAGES

DISADVANTAGES

  • Radiation can put people in danger
  • Nuclear waste is dangerous
  • Nuclear reactors are expensive
  • Nuclear reactors have a limited life span
  • Uranium is a very rare element

DISADVANTAGES

  • The nuclear waste remains dangerous for thousands of years
  • Radioactive waste warms the aquatic life, killing of species
  • Gives us power to produce dangerous weapons of mass destruction
  • Safety precautions
  • It is difficult to fix something in a nuclear plant

DISADVANTAGES

  • The nuclear plants can take up miles of space.
  • They have to use fossil fuels to power the cooling tanks.

NUCLEAR DISASTERS

CHERNOBYL, UKRAINE

Strip mining
This is where miners of Uranium tear up miles of land in search for this rare element. They dig miles wide and very deep.
They have to use a lot of fossil fuels in the process to run their machines, which causes more pollution.
Strip mining could force animals out of their habitats and could kill them.
