PRESENTATION OUTLINE

DIRT BIKES

NEWTONS 1ST LAW

  • Object will stay in motion unless force acts on it

DIRT BIKES

  • push on the throttle
  • Bike starts moving
  • Apply breaks to stop bike

NEWTON'S SECOND LAW

  • F=ma
  • Force = mass x acceleration

ACCELERATION

  • Change in speed
  • Caused by force
  • Directly proportional to net force

Acceleration is a change of velocity/ time interval

DIRTBIKES

  • Constantly changing speed
  • Use throttle to accelerate
  • Use brakes to deccelerate

DIRT BIKES

  • Going uphill - more speed
  • Going downhill - less speed

NEWTONS THIRD LAW

  • For evey action there is an equal and opposite reaction

DIRTBIKES

  • Give it gas - mud flings up

EXAMPLE 2

  • Push in the throttle
  • Tire spins
  • Bike accelerates

EXAMPLE 2

  • More gas you give
  • Faster tire spins
  • Faster bike moves
