PRESENTATION OUTLINE
DIGITAL CERAMIC FACTORIES
The ceramic industry has become a very converged scenario. Most producers depend on manual processes despite their size.
Traditional fabrication depends on standardization and big volumes due to high scrap production and manual labour.
Mexico consumes an estimate of 95 million ceramic products in a year. 60% -70% imports. (China, Colombia & Portugal produce at 1/3 of Mexican cost but are taxed with 230%)
Traditional production depends on 10 manual stages of production which take at least 30 days to complete (modeling, patterning, moulding, casting, finishing, firing, glazing, firing, decorating and firing again)
The idea is to create micro-factories that produce on demand customizable ceramic consumer and architecture products.
COMPETITION AND MARKET SIZING
Digital ceramics are focused on young medium to high income people that like design and architecture.
