PRESENTATION OUTLINE

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

By Kayla Hauser

Digestion works by moving food through the GI track.

The seven organs in the Digestive System are the small intestine, large intestine, pancreas, liver, stomach, esophagus, and the gallbladder.

The small intestine is a tube that continues the process of breaking down food
The pancreas produces enzymes.
Two of the livers main functions are to make bile, and to clean blood.
The gallbladder sits just under the liver and stores bile.

The esophagus is a tube that delivers food to the stomach.
The stomach holds food and works as a mixer and grinder.
Your large intestine then reabsorbs water that is used in digestion and gets rid of undigested food.

The stomach is the main organ in the Digestive System. It is a small pouch made of thick muscle. The stomach works as a mixer and grinder.

Facts

  • The small intestine is about 22 feet long
  • The digestive system is cancer prone
  • The Digestive juice in our stomach is able to dissolve metal
  • Your small intestine is responsible for almost all of the absorption of nutrients
  • You're stomach doesn't do most of the digestion

Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease. Ulcerative colitis causes ulcers in the lining of the rectum and colon and Crohn's disease causes inflammation of the digestive system
