There are early depictions from 3500 B.C. that can be seen on ancient Egyptian murals
Egyptian nobility would wear them to set them apart from the lower class
High heels also served a practical purpose for Egyptian butchers who wore them in order to walk over the bloodied bodies of animal carcasses
Initial Impact
At first, heels were associated with prostitution because of their introduction through the sex trade. As time passed, they were more commonly used by the aristocrats, and the higher heel represented wealth and status

Contrary to the earlier ages, anybody has the ability to wear heels, but women are more often wearing them than men, if any. Heels have increased in height as well as platform, and are commonly used for formal outings
