DIABETES

TYPE 1 DIABETES

  • Body does not create insulin
  • Insulin must be injected
  • Usually found in children and young adults
  • About 15% of diabetes cases

TYPE 2 DIABETES

  • Body makes insulin but doesn't use it right
  • Diet must cut sugar to maintain health
  • Passed genetically
  • About 85% of diabetes cases
  • Found in adults over 40
  • Fat blocks cells from receiving insulin

SYMPTOMS

  • Excessive thirst
  • Urinating a lot
  • Blurred eyesight
  • Rapid weight loss
  • Always tired or weak feeling

COMPLICATIONS

  • Loss of eyesight completely
  • Passing out or going into a coma
  • Limbs needing amputation
  • Strokes
