TYPE 1 DIABETES

  • Little or no insulin produced by pancreas.
  • Insulin is required to sustain life.
  • Person needs daily insulin to survive.

TYPE 2 DIABETES

  • Pancreas doesn't make enough insulin, or body doesn'tr use it right.
  • Person needs a sugar controlled diet.
  • Some may need drugs to prevent sugar uptake.
  • Others may need insulin injections.

TYPE 1 USUAL AGE

  • Less than 20 years old.
  • Type 1 is 15% of usual cases.

TYPE 2 USUAL AGE OF DIAGNOSIS

  • Usual age of diagnosis is 40-60 years old.
  • Type 2 is 90% of all usual cases.

SYMPTOMES OF TYPE 1 DISBETES

  • Symptoms appear sudden.
  • Frequent urination
  • Extreme hunger
  • Blurred Vision
  • Extreme Thirst

  • Symptoms appear slowly.
  • Increased thirst.
  • Very tired.
  • Nausea.

COMPLICATIONS THAT CAN ARISE FROM TYPE 1

  • Diabetic coma.
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Stroke
