OBJECTIVE:

  • To measure the relative density of liquids in comparison to water
  • by determining which is the heaviest and which is the lightest.

EQUIPMENT

  • Graduated cylinders
  • Ball bottom flask
  • Measuring cup

CHEMICALS.

  • Food coloring, shampoo,
  • Liquid glycerine, detergent and corn oil.

  • Add 20 ml of the liquids to each container
  • and if the coloring has a light color
  • we should add food coloring to make it dark
  • but if it has an identifying color leave it
  • as it is.

ORDER OF APPLYING LIQUIDS

  • Corn oil
  • Detergent
  • Water
  • Shampoo
  • Glycerine

OBSERVATIONS.

  • The corn oil was very yellow
  • It had an identifying color
  • we didnt added food coloring
  • Adding it to the tube it went down
  • easily.

  • when added it was in the middle
  • of corn oil and detergent

  • when we added it all chemicals combined
  • and turned into a mess.

  • which was dark, turned clear and
  • we didnt add coloring

  • glycerine because it was the
  • Bottom one and made colors
  • Lighter then detergent, water
  • and finally oil.
