Born on December 17, 1760 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
After spending 5 years in 2 other homes, Deborah, at age 10, was given as a servant to Deacon Benjamin Thomas, a farmer in Middleborough, who had a large family.
She was a patriot because she wanted independence.
In 1802 she began making appearances as a lecturer, concluding her highly, romanticized speech by dressing in a soldiers uniform and performing the manual of arms.
After Sampson recovered from her injury, she went back to her home in Massachusetts.
In 1805, the United States Congress awarded her a pension because of her wounds. She died on April 29, 1827
