Daniel Chester French was part of the Cornish Colonies. He was the leading American sculptor of the early twentieth century.

French's Art

  • 1870-1874 he made 25 sculptures
  • "The Minute Men" was a turning point in his career.
  • He was one of the last significant sculptors to opt for train in Italy.
  • He made portraits, public sculptures, and naturalistic portraits.

Death

  • Daniel Chester French died on October 7, 1931
  • He died in Stockbridge MA.
