WHEN YOU DANCE

YOUR PURPOSE IS NOT TO GET TO A CERTAIN PLACE, IT'S ENJOYING EACH STEP

WHAT IT TAKES BEING A LINE REP

  • To take the initiative to get things done ahead
  • Providing the team with any help or advice
  • Bring more school spirit
  • Assisting the directors and officers
  • To build a closer bond with the team

LEADERSHIP VIEWPOINTS

  • Qualities: organizing, planning and bringing authority
  • Strengths: patient and can give advice
  • Weaknesses: easily overwhelmed, especially balancing dance and school
  • Disciplined team: cleaning can get done faster and things will not have to be repeated
  • This years line rep: to improve their dancing skills in case to step in for an officer

THEME

  • Farmerettes take a road trip
  • Take a pit stop such as football season, then to competition
  • Incorporate the hottest music on the radio during that time
  • Pinpoint where we want to stop, and incorporate that
  • For example, stopping in CA, we can focus on a Hollywood theme

  • Don't be afraid to ask questions
  • Always come prepared
  • Put your A game on
  • Talk to new people
  • Always dance like its the last time to dance

  • Always say 'Yes Mam'
  • Put a smile on your face
  • Point your toes
  • Always try to make the best grades possible
  • Leave the floor with a great impression

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES

  • Summer: "everyday you do something better than the day before"
  • Football: "there's a bit if insanity of dancing that does everybody great good"
  • Competition: "be so good, they can't ignore you"
  • Banquet: "maybe it's not about the happy ending, but more of the story"

TRADITIONS

  • Old: prayer circle- draws us closer as a team and brings confidence
  • New: team chant- helps rid of anxiety before performances
  • Borrow: devotion- before each performance the team talks and tries to relieve stress
  • Favorite: marching with the band, brings excitement and team spirit

SPIRIT AWARDS

  • An award give to a member who is all around a good team member
  • Given after each season; football, basketball, competition, spring show
  • Presented with a survival kit full of necessities
  • A goody bag with candy or giftcards
  • Given by team votes and directors approval

FARMERETTE PARTY

  • End of the year and before school start
  • End of the year: potluck dinner at school with all members
  • Before school starts: getting to know the new team better
  • Have a barbecue and enjoy swimming before school starts at a club house
  • Bring $25 each for clubhouse fee and food

TEAM BONDING

  • Make team shirts (tie dye)
  • Or all team members draw a name from a hat
  • Write encouraging letter and open the day of their first performance
  • Or organize a team sleepover and room/sleep with someone new
