DURING CYTOKINESIS...

  • In an animal cell-
  • The cell membrane pinches in the middle.
  • It then creates two cells
  • Each cell has about half the organelles in each.

  • In a plant cell-
  • The cell wall cannot squeeze together
  • A cell plate forms
  • The cell plate gradually becomes 2 cell membranes

OTHER FACTS ABOUT CYTOKINESIS

  • Yeast cells do not divide equally.
  • Cytokinesis is the last step in the cell cycle.
  • Now, each "daughter" cell has a full set of chromosomes.
  • The cycle now begins again!
