Cystic Fibrosis : IS A DISEASE PASSED DOWN THROUGH FAMILIES THAT CAUSES THICK,STICKY MUCUS TO BUILD UP IN THE LUNGS, DIGESTIVE TRACT AND OTHER AREAS.

Cause :
Happens when people who inherit the abnomal gene from their parents. Both parents must be carries of the gene.

How is it inherited? :
Both copies of the gene in each cell have mutations. Each parent carries one copy of the mutated gene. Cystic Fibrosis is recessive.

Treatments : Medications:
Antibiotics, mucus-thiming drugs, brunchodilators. Physical Therapy: Chest clapper, inflatable vest, breathing devices. Surgery: Lung transplant, feeding tube and bowel surgery.

How many people and Who?
Most common in white people of northern European ancestry.About 9,000 people in the UK have cystic fibrosis. Thats 1 in every 2,500 babies born. It affected over 100,000 adults and kids around the world.

Lung-Damaging molecule identified in higher concentrations in cystic fibrosis patients during symptoms flare ups.(Feb.25,2014) Discovery of 105 additional genetic errors that cause cystic fibrosis (December 21,2013)
