PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Each cell in the human body contains about 25,000 to 35,000 genes, which carry information that go toward determining your traits.
By sexually reproducing organisms, parents give genes to offspring. The child gets 50% of genes from their mom and 50% from their dad.
Cystic fibrosis is a disease passed down through genes that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, respiratory system, and other areas of the body. It is one of the most common chronic lung diseases in American children and young adults. It is a life-threatening disorder.
There currently isn't a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, but scientists are researching ways and trying to come up with treatments to stop or help increase the life expectancy.
The difference between a disease inheritated through genes and a disease caused by your environment is that the one inherited through genes you are born with. You can't "catch" and inherited disease like you can catch a cold. Inherited diseases are passed down to you through your parents. Sicknesses and diseases cause by the environment happen from the spreading of viruses and germs.
