CRITICAL LITERACY

Students today experience a constant stream of ideas and information through online, print, electronic games and mass media. As they get older students have an even wider range of texts.

We are looking at Critical Literacy to help students gain the skills to determine where to direct their attention and how to interpret and decipher messages and use them appropriately.

We want students to ask questions, to examine viewpoints (their own and others), to take a stand and become critical consumers and users of information.
