NOBILITY

  • High treason- betraying a country, especially by attempting to overthrow the government
  • Sedition- conduct or speech inciting people rebelling against the authority of a monarch
  • Rebellion- violence or resistance to a government or ruler
  • Murder
  • Blasphemy- act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about god or using profane talk
  • Spying

NOBILITY CONTINUED

  • Witchcraft- the practice of magic or using spells and the invocation of spirits

LOWER CLASS

  • Theft
  • Cut Purses - pickpocket
  • Begging
  • Poaching
  • Forgers - fraudulently copies
  • Fraud
  • Dice Coggers - a cheat

UPPER CLASS

  • The normal punishments that they would receive was beheading in public
  • Normally the upper class committed around the same crimes as the Nobility

FUN FACTS

  • Many women would claim to be pregnant to get out of punishment
  • Theft of anything over 5 pence resulted in hanging

  • Traveling and acting without a license
  • Begging was common by commoners and was even considered a serious crime
  • Poaching at night
