Cree Tribe

Location

  • The original location of the Cree is in Canada, but now they are located in Canada and the U.S.

Food

  • The Cree tribe usually ate animals such as Caribou, Moose, Bear, Beaver, and Bison, yet if there was a shortage they turned to canibalism.
  • Although they were hunters, they still ate vegetables and fruits such as, herbs and other wild plant foods.

Housing

  • Because of the area they lived in, the Cree used Bison hide to built their homes.
  • The Cree's home is called a "Tipi", or they have "Wigwams".

Clothing

  • Cree women wore dresses while men wore pants.
  • Because it got cold in the winter, they wore mittens.
  • Men wore shoes called moccasins, and the women did too.

Daily Life

  • Men hunted and fished for food whereas the women stayed home and took care of the children.

Transportation

  • Although the Cree canoed, they used horses for transportation.
