CANYON

  • A deep valley that is formed by a river
  • It's located in Arizona, and its name is the Grand Canyon.
  • The Grand Canyon is around 6000 (1800 metres) feet deep.

MEANDER

  • A long river that winds and turns in different directions
  • This Meander is located in Cuba
  • Meanders are caused by the erosion of river banks.

Alluvial Fan

  • A fan- shaped deposit where a stream flows and is formed
  • The location of one of the Alluvial Fan's, is in California.
  • Some regions have two Alluvial Fans that have grown together.

Mesa

  • A large hill that has a flat top and steep sides
  • One Mesa is found in Monument Valley, Utah
  • The word 'mesa' comes from the Spanish or Portuguese word for 'table

River

  • A large natural flow of water that flows into a ocean
  • One river is located in Danube, Central Europe.
  • The longest river in the world is the Nile River, it is 4,132 miles long.

Valley

  • An area of low land between hills or mountains
  • One Valley is located in California
  • Valleys were highly sought after in the Medieval period for there defenses.

Plateau

  • A flat area of land that is higher than other areas of land that surround it
  • Located: in the Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates.
  • The largest and highest plateau in the world is the Tibetan Plateau.

LEVEE

  • An embankment for preventing flooding
  • This Levee borders the Wadden Sea in the Netherlands.
  • Levees are the oldest and the most extensively used method of flood control.

Mountain

  • An area of land that rises very high above the land around it.
  • One Mountain is located in Italy and is named MatterHorn.
  • Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world at 29,035 feet.

Delta

  • Forms when a river splits into smaller rivers before it flows into an ocean.
  • One of the Delta's is located in Botwana, Africa .
  • The Mississippi River created a Delta that comprises approximately 521,000 acres.

WaterFall

  • Forms where running water falls down from a high place
  • One Waterfall is called the Niagra Falls
  • 3,160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second.

REFLECTIONS,

  • I learned that our earth has so many amazing landforms.
  • Also, I learned that landforms can be very good for producing food/water.
  • Another thing is that landforms are very good to know when you are traveling.
  • BELIEVE, DREAM, INSPIRE..
