Inquriy Learning

What is it?

• Students engage in sustained process of inquiry centered on meaningful questions.
• Engage with new concepts
• Explore possible answers.
• Explain their answers
• Expand on their understanding

What it looks like?

• Teacher as facilitator and assessor.
• Students as active participants
• Students honing curiosity
• Students investigating, questioning, explaining, communicating.

Socratic Method

• Group disucssion about a topic based on an open-ended question.
• Valuable in discussing ethics
• Critical thinking is #1 goal!

Know your role

• Leader (usually teacher): poses the questions, clarifies, synthesizes, and restates.
• Participants (students): active listening, respect!, no interrupations.
