from given data

Scatter Plot Characteristics

  • dots represent a relationship between two types of data
  • dot is graphed as an ordered pair (x,y)

Steps to Create

  • organize data in numerical order
  • Find the median (Q2)
  • Find the median of the first half of data (Q1) and the last half (Q3)
  • make a horizontal line and number it least-greatest
  • put dots for least, greatest, Q1, Q2, and Q3
  • Make a box from Q1 to Q3
  • Make a vertical line at Q2 (median)
