CREATE A NATION

A PROJECT BY OLIVIA HALLBERG

RAVENHEN AND FLORIHAME
5 degrees North, 45 degrees East.
An island completely surrounded by the Mirrorglass Sea

Ravenhen and Florihame are officially two countries, but they have joined through the marriage of the only children of the royal families in about 1243 A.D. They consider themselves one country.

The island has some mountains in the Northwest region of Florihame. There is a dense forest that covers the middle of the island. There are two regions in this country.

The winters are cold and snowy, but there is often snow in the Northernmost mountains in the middle of summer.

English is the most commonly spoken language, with French and Norse spoken as secondary languages. Some forms of Arabic can be heard on the coast.

They eat foods that would be found in medieval Europe, and live almost exactly as they did then.
Though, they do have indoor plumbing.

The challenges of their culture is as they have no modern technology, (besides plumbing) they are pretty much cut off from the world. Though, there are a few other countries that live like they do who they trade with. (Not mentioned in this presentation)

The main religion is Christianity, with small Muslim communities along the North and East coasts.

Extended families and nuclear families are important in my country, and there are upper, middle, and lower-class families. Men dominate the society, and women are mostly expected to stay home and take care of their relatives and children. Though it is not uncommon for women to hold positions of power in their communities.

Capitalism is the economic system in my country. The currency is called Ren. Ren are small coins with eagles on them. There are four values, made of different metals. One gold equals two hundred and forty silver, one silver equals one hundred and eighty coppers, and three hundred tins equal one copper.

There are two monarchies in my country, since it is officially two countries. Unofficially, they are one country. Even though the governments are monarchies, each town has a noble and commoner council member that tells the royals the needs of the people.
