PRESENTATION OUTLINE

OBJECTIVES

  • To ensure all ER RN's, will be rotated in crash cart checks and weekly inventory
  • To ensure that all RN's can test defibrillator and be expert users of various functions
  • To ensure all RN's are knowledgeable of the content of the crash cart
  • To ensure all RN's are are proficient in weekly inventory
  • ****MICN WILL CONTINUE TO CHECK ACCUCHECKS AND DIFFICULT AIRWAY CART

ASSIGNMENT AS FOLLOWS (Q-SHIFT)

  • RN to rm 1will check crash cart in rm 1
  • RN to rm 3 will check pediatric crash cart
  • RN to rm 4 will check cart in rm 4
  • RN to rm 8 will check Pink Tm crash cart
  • RN in Pav will check Pav crash cart.

  • Sub-Acute rm 26-29 will check SA crash cart
  • These duties will be on master assignment as well as white board assignment
  • Each TL will be confirm the duty complete and communicate to Charge
  • ***If the assigned RN cannot complete the task by 12 noon, notify TL ASAP
  • Again, crash cart checks are done q shift and weekly inventory is done q Monday am shift only

WEEKLY INVENTORY

  • Done every Monday morning. Don't panic, it only takes about 15 minutes!!
  • Cart is opened and checked against the inventory list (Back page)
  • Expired items to be removed and replaced with new items
  • Pharmacy does own inventory***do not open blue lock***
  • Replace lock by removing one from Pyxis. Document this lock number on the inventory check list.

REVIEW

  • All RN's will rotate crash cart checks and weekly inventories
  • This will ensure emergency equipment readiness as well as emergency clinical preparedness
  • Crash cart equipment 'refresher' in-services will be provided
