What is the CP Rail?
The Canadian pacific railway was a cross country railway that extended from coast to coast across Canada.

When was cp founded?
The CP Rail was founded on February 16th 1881.

Who was involved? What happened during the construction?
A man named Van Horne was one of the general managers and said during his first year, that he could cover 500km of land. Many floods delayed construction until 1882. Only by the end of 1889 was the rail completed.

Who worked on the rail?
Between 1881 and 1884, as many as 17 000 Chinese men came to B.C. to work on the rail. They only made $1.00 per day.

FACTS

  • During WW2, CP moved 86 million civilians
  • WW2- also moved 210,000 millitary personnel
  • Cp also found a large mass of natural oil while pumping water
  • The railway covers 3,200 km of land.

My answer...
The cp has helped connect the new country and made things easier for new immigrants. The cp has had a big affect on Canadian history.
