Shakespeare famous quotes and sayings

Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.

Written in the play Julius Caesar(Act II Scene II), the quote is a corollation to how in the act Caesar wonders on why men would fear death when it is inevitable for courageous men dont' think of death and will only die once, while the cowards always think about how they'll die, in turn dying over and over again.

Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Written in Macbeth(Act V, Scene V), after Macbeth has been feared by the cries of women from the fallen queen, he has come to see that the we live for nothing for we prepare for death when no one knows what happens after death.

Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.

Coming from The Merry Wives of Windsor(Act II, Scene II), this quote can touch very close to heart but focuses on how it's better to be early then it is to be late because when it's too late, there's nothing you can do.

To be, or not to be: that is the question

From Hamlet(Act III, Scene I), Hamlet’s famous “to be or not to be” soliloquy questions the righteousness of life over death in moral terms, much of the speech’s emphasis is on the subject of death—even if in the end he is determined to live and see his revenge through.
