Willow Chance- Willow is a very smart middle schooler who feels very lost and depressed in the real world, Willow was adopted twice, loves counting by 7s and plants, she misses her parents very much, she normally never cries, but when she found out about her parents she found that now that she cried it is so much more easier now, and she is the protagonist
Dell Duke- Dell a ,chubby school counselor who hoards many items, helps Willow find a home a takes her in until she can find one

Mai- Mai is an intelligent high schooler who is best friends with Willow, speaks Vietnamese, and can easily talk out of a situation
Quang-ha- Quang-ha sees the counselor, if he tries he is very smart, enjoys doing things his own way, very competitive, has to finish his coloring before he does anything else, and enjoys watching tv very close to the screen
Pattie- Pattie owns a nail salon, has a bossy attitude but a sweet side too, takes Willow in, and adopts her

Jairo- Jairo is a taxi driver that thinks Willow is an angel, adopts Willow, and wins 10,000 to go to college
Roberta and Jimmy Chance- Willow's parents adopted Willow from the start, they just adore Willow and everything she does, they even let her turn her garden into a jungle, the mom found out she had cancer, and the parents die

Willow's parents die in a terrible car accident which messes Willow's emotions up a lot
Willow gets very depressed and does not go to the one thing she loves and adores... SCHOOL!!
Willow now has to go through the whole adoption phase all over again, trying to find another person to adopt a middle schooler
Her teachers are accusing her of cheating on a test that she got a 100% on and now has to see the school counselor

The climax is when Willow finds out what really happened to her parents with the whole car accident explained and pictures in the newspaper while she was in the hospital

Pattie saves enough money and takes charge to remodel Dell's apartment so everyone can live in it
Pattie and Jairo have been dating so they decided to adopt Willow together and have a family
They now live in Dell's apartment and Dell lives down the hall and Willow finally has a loving family once again
