AVERAGE SIZE

  • Vary in length from 59-108 inches tall
  • With a tail length of 21-36 inches
  • And height from 23-28 inches at the shoulder

AVERAGE WEIGHT

  • Weight can vary greatly
  • Between 75-250 lbs

APPEARANCE

  • Cougars have a long body.
  • Small head
  • Short face
  • And a long neck and tail
  • They are powerfully built

PREDATOR

  • Primarily feed on large mammals preffering deer
  • But they will also eat coyotes, porcupines,
  • Beaver, mice marmots, hares, racoons, birds,
  • And even grasshoppers

HABITAT

  • The cougar thrives in montane, coniferous forests
  • Low land, tropical forests, swamps, grassland, dry brush
  • Country, or any other area with adequate cover
  • And prey

DISTRIBUTION

ALSO CAN BE FOUND IN MICHIGAN

Threatened species.
On an endangered scale they are on the least concern category.

HUNTING COUGARS

  • In oregon the season is jan. 1- dec.31
  • Or until hunt zone quotas have been met.
  • Whichever comes first.

There is no fixed mating season, but in North America, the majority of births occur between late winter and early spring.
