CHAPTER 6 SUMMARY

In the sixth chapter of the book, The Call of the Wild, Buck goes through many emotional changes.

These emotional changes are from being in the care of John Thornton. Bucks heart opens up and he learns to love again.

Buck changes from having his primordial beast take over all of him to transitioning back into a pet of some sorts. Buck experiences the love of an owner. This causes his to regain his former self, as well as combine it with his primordial beast. The love is the former part of his but the way he protects John from others is the beast inside him.

During this chapter Buck met two new dogs, Nig and Skeet. Skeet became a mother figure to Buck, cleaning his wounds and tending to him while he healed. Nig became a good playmate for Buck.

Other events that happened during the course of chapter six was Buck protecting John against people who attacked him. He also saved John from drowning in a stream. As well as Buck earning John one thousand dollars by pulling a sled of one thousand pounds for one hundred meters just to please John.

Overall, during the course of chapter six of The Call of the Wild we saw Bucks emotional changes and his love for John Thornton.
