TEMPERATE FOREST ANIMALS

  • Bank voles tails are half the size of their bodies.
  • Black bears are omnivores.
  • Gray squirrels are rodents.
  • Raccoons are medium sized mammals.
  • White-tailed deer have a mass of 150 pounds.
  • Wild boars are also named hairless pigs.
  • Cardinals are the symbol of Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia.
  • Goshawks body length are 1.9 feet.
  • A Turkeys lifespan is about 10 years.

TEMPERATE FOREST PLANTS

  • Burning Bush's scientific name is the Euonymus Alatus.
  • Dogwood's scientific name is the Cornus.
  • Fringe Trees are especially named for their unusual fringe-like blossoms.
  • Fragrant Sumac trees have lots of little red berries on them.
  • Ginkgo trees are the only living species in the division Ginkophyta, or at least that is not extinct.

  • Scarlet Oak can be mistaken for the pin oak, or occasionally the red oak.
  • Hop Hornbeams is a genus of 8 to 10 small deciduous trees belonging to the birch family, Betulaceae.
  • Sassafras plants are a genus of the extant and one extinct species of deciduous trees belonging only to the family, Lauraceae.
  • Sweet Gum is known as the Liquidambar.
