THE GREAT CHICAGO FIRE

  • The fire lasted two days
  • Legend has it that a cow kicked down a lantern in a barn or someone or something created the fire

SPANISH AMERICAN-WAR

  • U.S. Troops engaged: 306,760
  • Spain declared war in 1898

WAR WORLD 1

  • On a Christmas Eve, each side (British and German) declared an unofficial truce.
  • War world 1 began on July 28, 1914 and Lasted until November 11,1918

PROHIBITION

  • In 1920s the18th amendment was ratified which banned liquor
  • The 21st amendment would repeal this ratification stoping the prohibition

ROARING TWENTIES

  • In 1920s there was an age of dramatic social and political change.
  • The nation's wealth total wealth more than doubled between 1920-1929

THE DUST BOWL

  • In the 1930s there were severe draughts and dust storms

THE HOLOCAUST

  • Germany took over cities and made restrictions
  • Jewish People lost their business.

HURRICANE KATRINA

  • The hurricane stretched across 400 miles
  • The damage cost about 100 billion dollars

HINDENBURG DISASTER

  • The Zeppelin was destroyed in 1937
  • It killed 97 passengers

WAR WORLD 2

  • Germany invaded Poland in 1939
  • America supported allies in the war which were Soviet And British

PEARL HARBOR

  • Jappnesse plane fighters destroyed hundred U.S. naval vessels
  • 2000 soldiers died from the attack.
