SIR GAWAIN

THE CHALLENGE

• The green knight came and challenged the leader
• King Arthur wanted to fight but Sir Gawain stepped up
• The knight rode away and would be back in a year

SIR GAWAIN'S PREPERATION

• Sir Gawain goes to a castle to duel the green knight
• He arrives at the castle and the lords wife goes to him. She tries to seduce him.
• Sir Gawain doesn't let her but she kisses him and he gives the kiss to the king
• The next day the queen tries again and she kisses him twice and he gives two kisses to the king
• The third day comes and the queen tries again and she kisses him three times and he gives three kisses to the king

SIR GAWAIN'S PREPARATION CONTINUED

• The queen offers him a girdle that will protect him in battle
• He accepts the girdle and hides it from The Lord
• When New Years comes he wears the girdle for the battle

THE DUEL

• The green knight swung twice and on the third swing he cut sir Gawain
• The green knight reveals himself and says he was The Lord of the castle where he recently stayed
• Because Gawain didn't give everything back to the king the third day he cut him on the third blow
• The green knight tells sir Gawain that he was a worthy knight and sir Gawain goes to Camelot
