Tibet

  • They did self immolation in Tibet because, the Tibetans were living under Chinese rule and has been taken place since 2009; over 85 in 2012, with 28 in the month of November, 2012 alone

Tibetan Unrest

  • these protests in Tibet was known as the Tibetan unrest and was also known from its Chinese name as the 3-14 riots it was a series of riots and demonstrations that started in the Tibetan regional capital of Lhasa and spread to other Tibetan areas. Those who've self immolated called for Tibet and the return of the Dalai Llama

Vietnam

  • In 1963 Buddhist monk Auang Duc publicly burned himself to death. He did this in a plea to get the president to NGO Dinah Diem to show " Charity and compassion to all religions"

  • Diem was a catholic who had been oppressing Buddhist majority. Despite Auang's self immolation the president remained stubborn, However Auang started a domino effect on other monks and they to started to self immolate as well.
