Renewable resources- A renewable resource is a resource which is replaced naturally and can be used again. Examples are: oxygen, fresh water, solar energy, timber, and biomass.

Nonrenewable resources- is that their use is not sustainable because their formation takes billions of years.

Fossil fuels-a natural fuel such as coal or gas, formed in the geological past from the remains of living organisms.

Ore- a naturally occurring solid material from which a metal or valuable mineral can be profitably extracted.

Hydroelectric power- is the renewable energy contained in flowing water.

Geothermal energy-
is the heat from the Earth. It's clean and sustainable

Point source pollution- as “any single identifiable source of pollution from which pollutants are discharged, such as a pipe, ditch, ship or factory smokestack”

Non point source pollution- is caused by rainfall or snowmelt moving over and through the ground. As the runoff moves, it picks up and carries away natural and human-made pollutants, finally depositing them into lakes, rivers, wetlands, coastal waters and ground waters

Runoff- e draining away of water (or substances carried in it) from the surface of an area of land, a building or structure

Global warming- a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants.

Conservation- preservation, protection, or restoration of the natural environment, natural ecosystems, vegetation, and wildlife.

Compost- decayed organic material used as a plant fertilizer.

Recycling - converting (waste) into reusable material.
