• At 45 years old left, went to Holland
• Sailed to America May 4th 1626
• Traveled to Dutch West India Company
• 1626 appointed director general for 6 years

Manhattan

• Bought Manhattan for $24USD
• New Netherlands headquarters relocated
• On southern tip founded New Amsterdam

The Dispute

• Johan Van Remunde and Peter Minuit's argument 
• Minuit being publicly attacked
• both men ordered to Holland in 1631

Swedish Militia

• Recommended to Swedish Army
• Established New Sweden 1638
• Constructed Fort Christina

Old Peter Minuit had nothing to lose when he bought the isle of Manhattan / For twenty-six dollars and a bottle of booze, and they threw in the Bronx and Staten / Pete thought he had the best of the bargain, but the poor red man just grinned / And he grunted "ugh!" (meaning "okay" in his jargon) for he knew poor Pete was skinned.
