Japan is the number
one importer of exhaustible and renewable resources.

Japan is also one of the largest consumers of fossil fuels.

A chemical called PM2.5 has been emitted from China due to a strong reliance on coal. and occasionally comes into Japan.

PM2.5 particles can lead to asthma, lung cancer, arrhythmia, and an irregular heart beat condition.

Japan's dioxin levels are higher than any other G20 nation.

70% of the world's incinerators are estimated to be in Japan.

what part is being most effected?

  • Kanto region
  • Tokyo
  • Most of Japan's southern islands

how the government is responding

  • Japan was obligated to reduce the carbon dioxide level to 6% in 1990.
  • Japan maintained electric production from nuclear power plants, but found that renewable energy was better for the environment.

The people wear N95 masks to avoid breathing in the air.
