CONVENTIONS The conventions are those features of a film poster that attract people, give a idea of the story and theme of the film. There are two types of conventions: - Design Conventions - Functional Conventions
DESIGN CONVENTIONS - The poster illustrates attract people of the film by using the images of the main characters or the location where the film will focus on. This gives an idea of what the film will be about.
- The colour also gives a hint on the theme of film, for example in "The Conjuring" film poster the colour is quite dark, this because is a horror film
FUNCTIONAL CONVENTIONS - In the film poster usually the famous actors and/or director stand out from the other writings. This because their names attract people to go and watch it.
- The title of the film and sometimes a tagline to give an idea of the film story and get attention from the public.
- In addition, there are also written the release date of the film, this to let the people know when it will be available at the cinemas.
- Credits are usually small writings at the bottom or top of the film where show the other people of the film during its production and also the studios that created the film.
