  • He is best known for thinking of himself as a fool but becoming a great emperor

  • It is 1,777 miles long.

  • They had exceptional harbors that promoted trade.
  • They lived in an Italian area today called Tuscany.
  • They did not have a strong central government.
  • They did have a number of city-sates.

  • They have greek names and roman names.
  • Many of them are gods and represent different things.

  • The son of Jupiter.
  • Famous for his strength and many adventures.

  • The Entruscans lived here in ancient times.
  • It is a country shaped like a boot, which is often how it can be recognized on a map

  • The greek name for Jupiter is Zeus.
  • He was the God of sky and rain.
  • He was the supreme leader.

  • When you do research on this empire you will find out that there were many many kingdoms (Empire) in ancient Rome

L is for Latin

  • This was the language most commonly spoken in the Roman Empire.

M is for monarch

  • It is a ruler such as a king.
  • You could research many of them in Rome.
  • Don't confuse it with an emperor. They both are a ruler.

N is for Numerals

  • We still use roman numerals today.
  • They used the numerals for keeping track and counting what was occuring.

  • Changed his name to Augustus.
  • Founder and first ruler of the Roman empire.

  • Pax Romana means Peace of Rome in English.
  • Was a period of peace during the Roman Empire.

Q is for Quiritis

  • Goddess of motherhood.
  • She was a Sabine.

R is for rulers

  • There were many rulers at the time that made and impact on the empire.
  • Some of them were: Julius and Augustus Caesar, Claudius, Nero, Trajan, Constantine, Diocletian, and Valens.

  • They did many things and were very useful.
  • The non-citizens in the roman empire were slaves and aliens.
  • They also powered the Roman galleys.

T is for Tiber river

  • One of the most commonly known and used rivers in ancient Rome.
  • 2nd largest river in Italy.

  • The upper class is also known as the Patricians.

V is for venus

  • Her Greek name is Aphrodite.
  • She was the Goddess of love and beauty.

W is for WISDOM

  • Minerva was the goddess of wisdom.
  • She was also the goddess of battle, reason, and purity.

  • A group of Celtic gods linked to the worship of Mars.

Y is for young

  • Many young rulers and emperors were ruling at the time.
  • You can find very valuable information on the young rulers .

  • Roman emperor.
