PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CELL MEMBRANE

GATE TO THE SCHOOL
The gate to a school allows certain people and things to pass through, as the cell membrane does.

CYTOPLASM

FLUID THAT FILLS THE CELL
Students fill the school as cytoplasm is the fluid that fills the cell

NUCLEUS

HOLDS GENETIC INFO FOR THE CELL
Holds genetic information as a file cabinet holds information about its students

CYTOSKELETON

PROTEINS CONSTANTLY CHANGING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF A CELL
Kumon Helps students meet the requirements of their school, as a cytoskeleton is constantly changing to meet the needs of a cell.

SMOOTH ER

SURFACE OF THE ER THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN RIBOSOMES
Like a notebook that has never been written in, As the Smooth ER has no ribosomes

ROUGH ER

SURFACE OF THE ER THAT IS COVERED IN RIBOSOMES
Like a notebook that has been written, as the rough ER is covered in ribosomes.

RIBOSOME

TINY ORGANELLES THAT LINK AMINO ACIDS TOGETHER TO FORM PROTEINS
Ribosomes are the tiny organelles that link amino acids together to form proteins. Lunch ladies are like the ribosomes that put together ingredients to form cafeteria food.

GOLGI APPARATUS

AID IN MODIFICATION, PACKAGINE AND DISTRIBUTION OF PROTEINS
Office runners are like the Golgi apparatus. They aid in the distribution of notes to other students in the school, as the Golgi bodies aid in the packaging, distribution, and modification of proteins that make up a cell.

VESICLE

DIVIDES MATERIALS FROM CYTOPLASM & TRANSPORTS THESE MATERIALS
A school bus is like a vesicle- it transports students for place to place

MITOCHONDRIA

SUPPLIES ENERGY TO CELL
Like a students lunch, gives them energy

VACUOLE

FLUID FILLED SAC USED FOR THE STORAGE OF MATERIALS
Vacuole is like a backpack, holds supplies needed for school

LYSOSOME

DEFENDS CELL FROM INVADING BACTERIA AND VIRUSES
Like a school nurse, protects students from bacteria and viruses - illness

CELL WALL

RIGID LAYER THAT GIVES PROTECTION, SUPPORT, AND SHAPE
Like a school uniform or clothing in general, gives protection from the elements.

CHLOROPLAST

CONVERTS ENERGY FROM THE SUN INTO SUGAR. FOOD PRODUCER
Like a vending machine, produces food for students. Takes money, gives food
