PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 to David and Ida Eisenhower in Demison, Texas.
EARLY LIFE
- Grew up in Abilene Texas
- Was the third child among sevens sons
- He was raised in a rather poor family
- He played football and baseball at Abilene High School
His steps into the Military:
He graduated for high school in 1909
He did not have to pay for college because in 1911 he was accepted in to the United States Military Acedemy at West Point were he graduated in 1915
During World War I, Eisenhower ran a tank training center at "Camp Colt", Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. WWI ended just before his tour in Europe was to begin, which was a dissapointment to him.
HIS INCREASING RANK
- After graduating from west point, he was commissioned as a 2nd LEUT.
- He married Mamie Doud in 1916, the same day he was promoted to 1st LEUT.
- By 1920, after several hears of service, he was promoted to Major
- In 1924, he went to the Command and General Staff School at Ft. Leavenworth, KS
- In 1941, he was promoted to Brigadier General, then in 1942 he was promoted to Major General

- Later in 1942, he was promoted to commander-in-chief of the Allied Forces during WWII
World War II Victories
Eisenhower led the successful Allied invation of North Africa, as well as the invasion of Italy.
D-DAY
After months of planning, Eisenhower led the Allied Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Then he was promoted to Five-Star General.
After WWII
After Germany surrendered in 1945, he became the military goveror of the U.S. Occupation. In later months, he was promoted to U.S. Army chief of staff.
