ALMA MATER

  • In Rome this phrase was used to refer to female goddesses
  • Recently the term is used by students to refer to the colleges they graduated
  • There are many monuments signifying the alma mater
  • Even Mary was known as an Alma Mater to the people
  • The alma mater can refer to a colleges theme music

ALPHA AND OMEGA

  • The alpha and omega were the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet
  • This term was used to describe Jesus when he said "I am the alpha and the Omega."
  • When he said this he stated that he would be the beginning and the end.
  • These letters are also included in the Hebrew alphabet.
