WHAT IS BINGE EATING DISORDER

  • This is a disorder that causes a person to have periods of excessive overeating.
  • People with this disorder do not subsequently indulge in purging(vomiting). As I in Bulimia.
  • People with this disorder are compelled to eat too much.
  • They will consume large amounts of food and not be hungry.
  • People with this disorder tend to hide it and be secretive about it due to shame or guilt.

BINGES

  • On a binge a person with this disorder
  • may consume around 10,000 to
  • 20,000 calories. Usually in a day or
  • In a few hours. A normal person takes
  • In about 1,500 to 3,000 in a day.

CAUSES

  • It can occur on its own.
  • It can occur alongside another disorder or condition.
  • It can also be caused by a lesion on the hypothalamus gland.
  • It can be caused by psychological problems.

  • Age
  • Other disorders
  • Psychological problems

RISK FACTORS

  • Any age can be affected but more in people in there 40s and 50s.
  • Having other disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.
  • A high percentage of binge eaters have trouble coping
  • With stress, anger, anxiety, sadness, boredom, and worry.

THERE ARE NO CLEAR SIGNS

OR SYMPTOMS FOR BINGE EATING DISORDER

POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS

  • Craving of sugar.
  • The experiencing of stomach pain.
  • Frequent headaches.
  • Find high or low temperature hard to bear.
  • The main sign is weight gain.

  • Often eat alone.
  • Diet frequently diet without results.
  • Hoard food.
  • Hide empty food containers.

  • Type 2 diabetes.

  • Hypertension.
