Convection- is the circular motion that happens when warmer air or liquid — which has faster moving molecules, making it less dense — rises, while the cooler air or liquid drops down.

Why does convection happen?
When molecules are heated they move upward.while the cooler molecules move downward creating a circular motion.

ancient civilizations discovered that convection occurred on a large scale from the sun and stars and affects our atmosphere, ocean currents and the earth's crust.

However, Isaac Newton was the first to design a formula for convection

For example,Boiling water,
the heat travels through the burner into the pot, heating the water at the bottom. Then, the hot molecules rise, while the cooler molecules move to the bottom creating a circular movement.

Radiator - Puts warm air out at the top and draws in cooler air at the bottom.

Steaming cup of tea is also an example. The stream shows heat converting into air.

Ice thawing is an example of convection because Heat moves the ice from your hand or to the air.

A hot air balloon uses a heater inside the balloon which traps the heat allowing the balloon to rise.
