CONSTITUTION

SECTION 1

• Congress is made up of the house and senate
• Congress is the nations lawmaking body
• System of separation of powers is supplemented by the system of checks and balances

SECTION 2

• House is chosen every 2 years and elected by people of several states
• You have to be 25 or older and a citizen for 7 years to be elected to the house
• Number of representatives is based on population

SECTION 3

• Two senators are chosen from each state for 6 years
• Senate must be 30 years or older and a citizen for 9 years to be elected
• House has executive power to impeach civil officers

SECTION 4

• Districts are drawn by state legislator
• Representatives are elected the Tuesday after the first Monday in November
• Congress must meet at least once every year
